Photocatalysis offers as a promising and sustainable approach for selective chemical transformations. In the past decade, heterogeneous photocatalysis has demonstrated great potential in organic synthesis and is an attractive technique considering the following merits: easy recyclability, good stability and low cost of heterogeneous photocatalysts.

We focus on regulation of surface/interface structures of heterogeneous photocatalysts for desired chemical transformations (e.g. C‒H activation) and unraveling the structure-performance relationships. In particular, we are interested in achieving selective conversion of biomass-derived compounds into fine chemicals.

In addition to fundamental research, we aim to scaling up photocatalytic processes via continuous flow techniques for industrial applications.
